Artist Call Out!
Artist Call Out
The SONIG & Youth Arts programme require a warm and welcoming art facilitator to create, deliver and judge this years ‘Search for the Rainbow’ Art Competition for young people in RCT.
The aim of the competition is to raise aspirations, self-esteem, and feelings of wellbeing in budding artists by developing their skills in new art forms and hosting their own exhibition with other young artists.
Young people ages 11-25 must create a piece of work representing their ‘rainbow’ / positive light through dark times – either by using colour, new materials, their skills or another creative way to represent their feelings in their piece.
In agreement with Youth Arts the artist will set a detailed brief for participants (this will be introduced and/or demonstrated during the workshops). Participants will go on to develop their skills and techniques to create and title their pieces for submission to the competition.
Part of the competition is that all participants host their own exhibition in a gallery where their families and friends can attend an official launch.
The winner and two runners up also receive art supplies, including appropriate tools/ materials for their chosen art form and further support from the SONIG & Youth Arts Team.
