Gemma Dobbs

Community Engagement Apprentice (Arts Service)

Gemma joined the team in October 2023 with a passion for working in the community and developing relationships between residents, charities and organisations in Rhondda Cynon Taff.

Previously working in the charity sector; Gemma has taken the lead with large groups of volunteers from all backgrounds, emphasising the importance of working as a team and developing self-esteem and confidence in individuals. She is also an avid photographer and illustrator and has a keen interest in the Visual Arts – previously competing in Ystradyfodwg Art Competitions throughout her school life and later working as an Illustrator/Designer in her local Graphic Design Printers.
She looks forward to continually vitalising her skills in her new role – working towards supporting the community to flourish at a hyperlocal level and supporting programmes of community-led arts engagement activities where creativity and the arts are experienced on the communities’ terms.

Gemma says

‘I am very proud to be working in the RCT Arts Service, helping to strengthen the relationships between the community and our sector. It is so important to recognise the fantastic art that originates in the Valleys – We have so much talent surrounding us! It is great to be able to work alongside so many creative individuals’
